Moonsoon Misery

The monsoon is finally here. And in this tropical climate, that could mean days of constant heat, followed by days of constant rain. This cycle can play havoc with your body and your mood, which is why I find it so hard to stay inside the studio and really focus on work. I've had a few starts on possible new pieces, but half way through I always seem to lose the will to finish them. Not a good situation to be in, especially for people like me. :(

So, to make up for my pathetic lack of productivity, I think I'll just show you one of my successful attempts. It was definitely a very productive day from start to the end, long before the monsoon came....

This piece is called In a Moonlit Dream. It's one of my favorites, if I may say so shamelessly myself. There's something about "being inspired" that really add an extra bling to a piece of work. This one sold just a few hours after I published it on Facebook. Kind of proves my point, wouldn't you agree? Have you ever had this experience before? I'm sure it's not something that happens everyday for artists, but when it does, it definitely feels like you've struck gold. Makes me wish there's a button somewhere I can push to bring it back on days like these...

Oh well, lets hope things get better soon... Until next time! :)

Much love,

News from Whimsylandia and Giveaway Winner

Wow. I'm terribly sorry for the extra long silence here after my last post. I hoped to pop in every now and then to share a few words, but all hopes crumbled when I realized that I was never going to finish up all my deadlines if I didn't keep working like a mad woman. LOL. Thankfully, this mad woman's hard work paid off and she did manage to finish them eventually. Phew. :)

So, what's new? you may ask... Quite a lot, actually. But I think I'll just keep this post extra light and happy now that I have a reason to sigh a breath of relief. Let me show you some new little whimsies that are happily settled in their spots at Whimsylandia...

Well, I hope you like what you see. I must admit that creating dolls is an exciting experience because you get a bit more attached to them. Like painting or drawing, it gives you such a feeling of pride and joy, but you get this fuzzy feeling in your heart because you can actually hold the little darlings in your hands. :)

Anyway, in case you're wondering, I haven't forgotten about our last awesome Hallow's Eve Giveaway! Someone is going to get very lucky and receive that little black cat in the middle! So as promised, I have picked a winner and that person is...

I hope everyone had a good time on Halloween and thank you so much for participating in my giveaway. For those who didn't win this time, please accept a little something from me that you can claim at Whimsylandia...

An Unsent Message - Blessings

My dear friends,

It's been raining everyday where I am, and it looks like the monsoon season is starting early this year, even the thunders confirmed it last night. Funny isn't it? Just when you think the storm has finally died down, the clouds suddenly seem to have gathered again. It makes you appreciate those short peaceful moments after the rain even more than before.

I think for many people, including myself, this is a constantly repeating theme of our life. The paths we take and how we choose to live them, forms a pattern that we have to face everyday. Sometimes creating a balance, but many times becoming a domino effect that never seems to end. Such is the story of my life. All because of a decision I made over five years ago, to finally embrace my passion fully and promised myself never to look back. It's one crucial decision that I should have taken at the beginning, long before I started a family. To be quite honest, ever since that day my life has been a never ending marathon, against time and obstacles.

Of course, I try to take everything as positively as I possibly can. It's not easy to build a career and raise children at the same time. When the economy is unstable around the world and bar of expectations is set up high, there's not much left to do but to worry. Sometimes all I want to do is crawl under my bed and just stay there. Yes, it's true. Not all is fine and dandy, not all is calm and pretty. But haven't we all been there? Does it ever stop you from trying even harder? All I know is that the storm will always come and go. The dominoes will probably keep on falling and the finish line is way, way up there behind the horizon. Right now, the marathon continues and all I have is a pocketful of hopes and a vision of how I dream my life to be at the end of this race.

Unsent Messages is a series of thoughts, memories, feelings or experiences in life that I started to write a few years ago. It's been a while since I last written one and today, without warning, the need of letting go suddenly felt strong. I intend to write more of these messages. Some may be about me personally, some may be inspired by stories of others.

Thank you (you know who you are) for the truly inspiring conversation we had the other day. It made me think about how much life has toughened me inside out and to thank my lucky stars for always shining its light at the most concealed paths. Just when I needed them most.

With love,

Blog Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Hello lovelies. So nice to have a fraction of time to stop by and finally write something... You might have wondered why I seem to only post and run these days. Believe me, I hate not being able to spend time here like I used to. This blog was once a gathering place for me and my wonderful blog friends, to chat, to exchange thoughts or just to meet and be merry. Unfortunately, I've noticed more and more art blogs are becoming less active and to be frank, it kind of saddens me. Especially because mine is one of them.

Of course life keeps evolving even for bloggers, not to mention the time we need to focus on work, family and those precious little bits saved only for ourselves. I for one have tried to include running this blog among my top priorities for years, but I think there are times when there's just not enough strength to follow through. But when I read my Reading List to visit my favorite blogs today, it really surprised me that so many of them have not even written anything for weeks and some in months! To be honest, I don't want my blog to be neglected. It would be so sad to see something I've worked so hard to build and kept living all this time to just wither away and die.

So I think this is my very, very late new year's resolution. I should step up and turn on my horse power to bring the life and luster back to this blog. By the pile of deadlines that hunts me down and the huge basket of dirty laundry that screams at me every single day! :)

Thank you, dear friends, for always coming back and sticking around. The blog world is an awesome place because of you.

With love,
