Color Therapy

I've been feeling a bit on the gloomy side these past couple of days. Work is still waiting to be done and things at home are on a very demanding streak at the moment. I was telling my husband how much I need a vacation, preferably somewhere nice and colorful so I can shake off the nasty grays that's been hanging above my head lately. But of course, a vacation will only remain a dream, at least until my baby is old enough to stay with Grandma and Granpa while mommy takes off to wonderland! Haha! :D

So what does a poor miserable girl do to get cheered up in an instant? The only thing she can do...turn to her paints and splash some colors around. Seriously, if you had seen the state of my table after I finished painting these girls, you would have nodded with approval at the wide satisfied grin on my face. :D

I guess that little color therapy will have to do for now. How about you? What kind of artistic things do you do to cheer yourself up when you're feeling on the down side?

Happy Monday, everyone!

NOTE: These original ACEOs are now available in my shop.

  1. These are so happy and sunny! A little color therapy always helps! Can you go out to dinner, or run off to the shops all by yourself for awhile? That always works for me!

  3. Dear Amalia, you can't imagine how well I understand you! A little escape... Some minutes for you...It always helps to cheer up and "take a breath". In the last 10 years I've missed a lot of vacations!:( I'm staying at home this summer, too. I'm a little bit sad, but cannot change things... So, yesterday I spent a Creative Afternoon and I'm going to post some photos in my blog. Today I had a "Creative Evening" - making paper pinwheels for the first time in my life!:0)
Your art therapy gave a marvellous result - all these pretty little girls. Yes, they are colourful and vivid, although silent and melancholic.
Still I hope you will not feel that way quite often!xx

  5. Wonderful colors! Are these on wood canvas?
I think we had the same thoughts lately. I'm on holiday but won't go anywhere this year. The weather is very humid and hot here and I also need some colors to clear off the blue. My last pieces are filled with colors! Have a great time!

  9. Those girlies are so pretty....all those light and gorgeous colors certainly helps lift the spirit!

Maybe go buy yourself a bouquet of flowers to put where you sit most.....and maybe get a pedicure (I always order the extra 15 min massage) feels like a mini vacation....with cute toes to enjoy as you pad around the house :)

    1. That is a sweet idea, Cameron! I guess I've been so up to my head with all the chaos that I've forgotten to treat myself the littlest things. :)

  10. I think Cam has a great idea with the flowers and maybe you could plan a "stay-cation" where you create a special atmosphere in your home and enjoy your surroundings without having to go somewhere.

  11. what a WONDERFUL idea a stay-vacation painting my 5 girls. I think perhaps you have inspired me to take time to get my greys away as well. My little girls are multi cultural and filled with beautiful tones of cream, chocolate and carmel. I think I shall paint the night away using your inspiration! Perfect color therapy for me!!
